Frosted glass, or what we call silver mist glass, is our most obscure glass. Achieve the highest level of privacy without sacrificing too much natural light. Perfect for bathrooms, overlooked rooms and porches, it can also be combined with our decorative glass range.
Choose standard solid silver mist glass or add etched glass designs for an eye catching effect with maximum privacy. Increase obscurity on your glazed front door by combining silver mist with coloured or fusion glass designs.
Frosted glass is one of the most popular types of obscure glass. It is opaque, which stops anyone getting a clear view inside your home. Ideal for bathrooms and rooms you want to keep private, it obscures your room while letting in natural light. It can also reduce the power of the sun, making it useful for exposed conservatories.
Frosted Windows & Doors Glass
Frosted Glass Windows
Silver mist glass is available across our window range, in all materials and with triple glazing. Frosted glass bathroom windows are the obvious choice, but customers also obscure the bottom half of a kitchen casement window. Obscure your conservatory windows or just your fanlights where neighbours can see in over the fence.
Frosted Glass Doors
Frosted glass can be useful to obscure a back door if your home is overlooked by neighbours. We can etch borders, house names and numbers onto silver mist glass with a range of designs available for front doors. Frosted glass combined with stained glass or coloured glass offers an excellent design feature for porch doors too.
Silver Mist glass can be used on its own but you can also combine it with our decorative glass options:
Etched Glass
Patterns, borders, numbers or other unique designs sandblasted onto silver mist glass.
Brilliant Cut
Frosted line designs cut into the glass or clear line designs cut into silver mist glass.
Fusion
A mix of coloured, brilliant cut and etched glass combined with silver mist glass for a dazzling design with maximum privacy.
Bevelled
Angled cut pieces of glass arranged into patterns, separated by lead borders. When paired with silver mist glass you get more privacy but the designs show up a little more than with clear glass.
Coloured glass
A huge range of design options available as well as personalised options. A larger coloured glass design means less of your window will be obscured by the silver mist glass.
Our high-quality silver mist frosted glass is durable and long-lasting. Our sealed glazed units have a 15-year guarantee, and our frames carry a 10-year guarantee. Properly cared for, they can last well beyond that.
Like all our glass, silver mist glass is hardwearing and not prone to scratching easily. Dust and water marks don’t show up either. Should you get any stubborn marks on the glass, a microfibre cloth is sufficient to clean them.
Our silver mist frosted glass doesn’t fade over time or wear down. This means as long as you have it, silver mist glass maintains the privacy you need. Unlike cheaper alternatives, it can’t be removed through peeling or scraping.
Helpful Information About Frosted Glass
Is Frosted Glass Enough For Privacy?
Silver mist glass is our most obscure, making it perfect for privacy. Obscure and frosted glass is rated 1-5 for privacy, 5 being the most private. Our frosted silver mist glass achieves level 4. This is why it is so popular in bathrooms, kitchens, front doors, porches and even conservatories.
Does Frosted Glass Let Light Through?
Frosted glass windows still let in a good amount of natural light, just not quite as much as clear glass. This means your room will still be private while remaining light. It also helps to reduce the glare and power of the sun, which helps protect furniture in conservatories.

Opaque glass and frosted glass are different words for the same type of glass. They provide privacy by obscuring the inside of the home with their cloudy effect. This type of glass is often the most obscure glass you can buy. We have our own term for frosted or opaque glass, we call it silver mist glass. It does the same job, it’s just our product name.
